TRIAC mains dimmable drivers can be used to dim the brightness of lights. It works by varying the amount of power that is sent to the light bulb. In a TRIAC dimming system, the AC voltage waveform is modulated to reduce the amount of power delivered to the light source. By changing the phase angle at which the voltage is applied, the light output can be dimmed smoothly. TRIAC dimming is mostly used in homes to control LED, incandescent or halogen lighting, but it can also be used to control motor power.
